The Deepest Ends (BETA)
by marco a. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/04/2020 16:34:34

Programma Protezione Testimoni (Edizione Italiana)
by Alessio V. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 10/18/2017 15:52:35

by Alessandro F. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/16/2015 03:09:05

Caldamente consigliato.

My Fantasy RPG
by Matteo M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 05/07/2015 07:38:40

My Fantasy RPG
by Adam M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 04/12/2015 19:44:49

This game may be the innovative game that would make me more interested in story games than I am now. It may be. But I can't tell because so many critical passages are so poorly translated that I don't understand them and I'm left very confused about how large parts of the game are supposed to work. This game would have benefited from a translation editor whose first language is English because there are far too many grammatical or idiomatic errors to make it useful.

Cartooner rpg - play your favorite toon
by Joseph E. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/26/2014 21:50:04

Cartooner is a fun story game of making your own Bugs Bunney, Tom & Jerry or Wile E Coyote style story. First the players create the main characters and decide on a couple type of scenarios. Then you start narrating going around the table. There are some useful mechanics that help mold the story into something everyone is enjoying. My favorite was if everyone laughs that wins. What was great about the game is you can play it in under an hour. So you can actually get a couple play throughs in a couple of hours and still have time for the regular group chatter. I highly recommend this game if you enjoy a more story/narrative game.

Trapped
by Megan R. [Featured Reviewer] Date Added: 03/06/2014 10:01:50

A strange and rather disturbing story game that covers a conversation between a person trapped in a coma and an 'angel' that has come to visit, for good or for ill.

The person playing the Angel chooses whether they are good or evil, leading the comatose individual to salvation or damnation. Through three stages 'scenes' where the Angel describes a situation and the comatose person can ask questions, the comatose one has to decide if they wish, in the final scene, to follow the Angel. Only then does the Angel reveal where they are going.

The mechanics are neat and easy to understand, and feel less contrived than many story games. The game is played in a darkened room, with the Angel using a torch to signal scene changes. The comatose individual can demand a truthful answer of the Angel just once, by playing some music. Otherwise the Angel decides, within certain boundaries, which scenes will be handled truthfully and in which ones they will lie. It's translated from Italian, and occasionally the English is a bit clunky, but nothing that renders it unintelligible.

The disturbing element is that this explores the feelings and fears of someone trapped in a comatose state. Those who know someone in this situation may find this traumatic... or even theraputic if they are struggling to articulate how they feel. Hence if you do know a coma patient, think carefully before deciding to play this game (whichever role you are going to play).

Thought-provoking, and intended to be, if you enjoy pyschological story games this is worth a look.

Witness Protection Program (English Edition)
by Tim M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 09/29/2013 17:24:48

It's a nice, multi-part storytelling game with a decent system of compounding the story from one player to the next; the GM's roll is mostly as moderator and sudden antagonist, meaning you don't even really need one if you want to round-robin that roll at the table. There's little mechanical gameplay until the end, when dice rolls determine the narrative outcomes (good or bad) for the players and a card flip determines the overall outcome of the game, again for good or ill. The translation is obvious, it's not hard to read but certainly needs to be carefully perused instead of just skimmed. Looks like a fun diversion game or light afternoon thing.

Cartooner rpg - play your favorite toon
by Jazmin O. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 08/06/2013 11:36:34

I downloaded this because I am a huge fan of Toon: The Cartoon RPG (I have two of every book Steve Jackson came out for the system), and that the description said Cartooner is a "modern" retelling of the system.

It is no where near the same system as Toon, other than it uses d6s and based on cartoons. It runs like a playset for Fiasco, where everyone gets a chance to run as the director (player currently narrating), producer (directly opposes the director and in control of secondary characters) or audience (all the other players/pcs who are not the director or the producer. AKA main characters. In fact, why didn't they just call it main characters? Audience makes it sound confusing, like they are watching a cartoon, not directly involved. Maybe it's lost in translation?).

They want you to go out and buy an actual carrot or something resembling the carrot. Which gets passed around when setting up who is directing/producing/different scenes/etc.

The system is not all that bad, but they should update their description to say that it's more like Fiasco than Toon: The Cartoon RPG.

Cartooner rpg - play your favorite toon
by Théo M. [Verified Purchaser] Date Added: 06/25/2013 17:21:35

Cartooner rpg - play your favorite toon

"The most fun you can have with a carrot and a few friends!"

Let me start by saying that this is a great cartoon inspired storytelling game. Let me add that as I’m typing this I’m still sweaty from playing it and slightly breathless from laughing! It’s simple enough to be played at a lunatic (Looney-Tunes?) pace and features collaborative play combined with simple conflict resolution that allows everyone to share in the creative process.

There are three roles during game play – the Cartoonist (who narrates the action and picks the character that’ll be the focus of the scene), the Producer (who controls the secondary characters and vies for control with the Cartoonist) and the Audience (everyone else). These roles change during play, with the current Cartoonist being denoted by their holding a carrot – much more fun than a dealer’s button, I’m sure you’ll agree.

After characters and their goals have been created by the group and a few simple rules called Constraints agreed on, the Cartoonist sets the scene and describes what happens. When someone has a different idea what should happen a 2d6 roll determines whether the Cartoonist’s, Producer’s or an Audience member’s idea wins. Play continues like this, with all involved encouraged to contribute their wildest ideas in the most manic manner possible, until a character achieves their goal, or enough Constraints have been triggered to end the current episode.

An episode can be finished in as little as 10 minutes and my group clamoured to play another episode and another, and another until we shelved our original gaming plans for the evening. This game as played by my group is also a pretty good work out, as it resulted in chases around and under the table, but you don’t have to go that far.

I’d certainly recommend this game for introducing kids to tabletop gaming. It allows everyone to play the part of storyteller and when you’ve played it once you understand all you need to know. This is loads of fun without recourse to loads o’ dice and charts.

I should note that I played the English language version of this game and found the manual easy to understand. So if the fact that this is a translation of an Italian game is putting you off, then I can only suggest you get over your fears and go and get yourself a carrot and a few friends – you won’t regret it.
