Lethal Lexicon Volume 1
Monsters Both Strange and Parodical

The Lethal Lexicon is Octavirate Game's tribute to the classics of gaming. This early-edition game parody brings to life the thrill of gaming in the age before challenge ratings. Over 35 new monsters, some direct parodies, others strange and new, lie within these pages. Seek the endangered dragons, survive the sting of the bee-holder, beware the gaze of the biclops and stand upwind of the bonacon.

This throwback homage, however, isn't all chuckles. Creature abilities are all completely compatable with serious gameplay and, as always, full variant rule and alternate genre support is included so you can adapt these creatures to your own game as easily as possible.

What is Octavirate Presents?

Octavirate Presents is a new series of themed mini-game supplments from the creators of the Libris Personae and Creature Weekly. Set to fill the niche of Creature Weekly, Octavirate Presents provides regular releases of new monsters for your d20 campaign but doesn?t stop there. It features an adventure seed and scenario and provides NPCs, classes, feats, items or spells to work with the overall scenario or to work independently. Each volume is a different gaming experience that will keep your players on their toes.

Features:

More than 35 new monsters including animate bread, the bear-owl, the biclops, the bonacon, the evil clown, the cerebrosaurus, scientifically inaccurate dinosaurs, ten new species of endangered dragon and more.

Retro art and design for that 1st-edition feel.

Complete alternate genre and variant rules support, including alternate genre support for the upcoming ExorSystems, Inc™ game setting.

New art by Trent Troop, Hector Haddaway, Greg Sepelak and Ronald Smith.

On page ten of Octavirate Presents: Lethal Lexicon Volume 1 there is an illustration that, I think, nicely summarizes this product. The picture depicts a cartoonish adventurer attacking what appears to be a beholder. Honey drips from the beholder-like [...]

I think I was born in the wrong era. I like the classic guitar sounds of the 70s and can not get enough of the TV land specials a bit too much. I used to think it was just music and television, but after reading through the first volume of the Lethal [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
