I read the Quick Start and then immediately purchased the full version pdf. This game is fantastic if you like Super Fast Running TRPGs with as much crunch as can fit without slowing the flow. This is a masterpiece of an RPG. Really dig the art style. Super happy with this purchase.

Nope. The PDF version has been updated, but I think he is waiting for 2nd edition (may come as early as Spring 2018) to update the POD version. The reason he gave is because he doesn't want the early customers to feel like their printed copies are out-of-date already, and also because it takes a few weeks to go through the approval/proof process for print products, during which time the print version might be unavailable.

Wait, forgive me but, the product's not even a year old and there's a 2nd edition coming out?

Purchased Core and Vol.3 material. Read most of the rules and finished preparing all the cards, very excited to get started playing!
First impression is very positive! Rules seem simple enough to learn/teach with ease yet robust enough to do some awesome fighting/exploring/looting.
Artwork looks absolutely amazing. The simple, black and white style really makes the game stand out among the many other game titles. Bold choice but I am digging on it!

Will comment again when I had the chance to actually play a couple of games :)

Also, the price is almost a steal, even if you are not interested in the game itself too much, get the cards. I just had all 100 laid out in the living room and already got a ton of ideas for fantastic stories.

The Imperium Belt section seems to be dupkicated in my hardcopy. It appears on page 52, then again on page 53, though with a different layout.

Well, they just got my vote! I mean, anyone who has a YouTube channel named "Drunkens and Dragons" is my kind of player community.

Is there any sort of "brief" that can explain the changes between version 1.1 and 1.2?

Cosmetic change only. The term DM has been replaced with GM (Game Master) throughout - That's all.

I'm not sure where to ask FAQ (I don't see a forum on the Runehammer games site):
- Effort: in creating characters, if magic is a d8 and weapons are only a d6, why would any player choose to the lesser? If choices can be explained purely by "image", why not have a "magic sword of energy" instead of a mundane sword?
- Effort: do two-handed weapons (great sword, battle axe, etc) have any effect on Effort? If not, why would you ever choose that over a weapon & shield (since that gives some game effects: extra armor)? Even the "huge" or "heavy" tags seem to indicate penalties to large weapons over "concealed", "fast", tags of smaller weapons.
- Do stats help other characteristics? E.g. does DEX increase Armor? Does CON increase Hearts?

The ICRPG Google+ community is very active and the author responds regularly so I strongly recommend having a look:
https://plus.google.com/communities/113794869422304907451
In the mean time (my no expert answers):
The game is not designed with balance in mind. "Normally" a character would only get a "magic" sword from "LOOT" or a milestone (effectively a level up). But no reason if the GM and Player agreed a PC couldn't start with a "magic" sword.
You're right, other than looks you might as well have a shield and one handed weapon as a two handed weapon does do just d6 damage. If you wanted you could change the damage perhaps 1d6-1 vs 1d6+1 I guess.
DEX/CON have no impact on Armour or Hearts but again if that works for you - go for it.

I love this system and this book. This is a easy system for beginners with a low cost buy in. Experienced players and DMs will find the distilled mechanics to be innovative and slick. The author fully supports his system and is prolific with the expansions. If you write modules or have thought about writing community content, the Drunkens and Dragons Youtube channel is the master class and this is the text book!

This game is by far one of the best games I have purchased and played. The simplicity of the system and visual tools and mind set that Hank offers with the base game and each expansion is outstanding. This game, ICRPG, is a winner and will only escalate over time to pure and imaginary spellbinding greatness and games. Please support you will not be disappointed

I want to stress that I enjoy the system and its emphasis on speed and simplicity. However, I do have two points of criticism. It's a bit ridiculous that a character sheet couldn't be included with the hardcover printing despite being listed in the table of contents. It's also strikes me as disingenuous that it's not stressed that the advertised maps and minis are only included with the digital release. I'd recommend at least providing a free PDF of the character sheet.

There are several variants and free things on the google+ community, and here's the sheet directly :D https://www.dropbox.com/s/wz5di25xblwmw2x/ICRPG%20Character%20Sheet.pdf?dl=0

as for including print and play assets in a physical book..that would not be practical. Pricing is designed to show that buying a hard copy without digital save you little, AND the text specifically mentions MAKE SURE YOU GET THE PDF! for tons of live updates, additions, adventures, printables and so on. Hope this helps!

I don't think so. There are no cards in the Online Play Kit as well. We have to purchase the cards separately. What a bummer...

You don't have to purchase anything. The core book never structures its rules or advice specifically around the cards, they are just a visual add-on that you can choose to use. This is a little like complaining the Pathfinder Core rulebook doesn't come with city and encounter maps.

Not really. This is more like buying a Beginner Box and not getting the included maps and minis despite the packaging advertising their inclusion. I'm not accusing the publisher of maliciousness but it is disingenuous not to differentiate the digital and physical releases in this regard.

Including print and play assets in a physical book is simply not practical, and the product description attempt to be EXTREMELY clear that the pdf is a huge value. The only thing not included are the card volumes. These, as todor mentioned, are totally optional to play. Hope this helps!

I want to buy the book in print. Im not a fan of pdf, I like real books. Just my thing. This says it comes with sheets of miniatures. Will I get those in actual separate sheets, part of the book, or pdf? How will that work if I only buy the print copy? Anyone know?

I don't know the answer to that question, but I would consider the pdf anyways because updates a will be free downloads to pdf purchasers. For instance, Expansion One was just uploaded today with a Warpshell Adventure and a "tables" pdf.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.
Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
